Here it is! The cover for Christmas Magic at Holly Oaks! Thank you to my favorite artist (my sister), @prettypeacockpaperie! She has the incredible ability to pull my vision out of my head and bring it to life. Rose and Malcom’s story is almost here!

Synopsis ICYMI:

After a career setback, horticulturalist, and Christmas Curmudgeon, Rose Douglas feels hopeless. Her meddlesome sister Sharlene, however, is convinced that Rose just needs a change of pace. Sharlene insists the two of them take a sisters trip to the quaint town of Holly Oaks—the Christmas Capital of the US.

What Rose doesn’t expect to find in Holly Oaks is her old flame, Malcolm Sharpe, who runs the town’s only bakery. Malcolm has found happiness in the small town by forming a close relationship with Ms. Flores, the owner of Holly Oaks Tree Farm—a.k.a. the heart of the town. While Malcolm struggles with the decision of a possible expansion for his bakery, Ms. Flores is searching to find the right investor for the tree farm, or it could mean eventual commercialization of the town and a loss of Christmas magic.

But a problem arises with the trees, and when Rose steps in to help, it means spending more time with Malcolm. As the two reconnect under twinkling Christmas lights and amid fresh rows of magical pines, Rose and Malcolm must confront what went wrong between them almost a decade ago. It’s clear to Rose that their old spark is far from dead, but just like in the past, she can’t tell if Malcolm feels the same—and letting him back in might mean risking her heart all over again. Just as Holly Oaks is starting to carve out a space in her heart, Rose receives an important call that changes everything.

Both Rose and Malcolm are faced with life changing decisions that ultimately push them to take risks. But can they take the biggest risk of all on each other, or are some seasons better left in the past?

Turned my fifth novella, Christmas Magic at Holly Oaks, in to the developmental editor last night! I’ve been posting writing updates in my stories along the way and then it dawned on me that I really haven’t done much promo. 😅 I’ve been so worried about getting the darn thing written and off to all the professionals on my publishing team. So time to get to work. 💪🏾 This novella is based on one of my scripts that was optioned a few years ago. I refuse to let that story die, so I’m bringing it to life another way. I also just want to say it’s not as easy as I thought it would be lol. If I ever mention turning a script into a novella or novel, slap me. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s always tricky for me because yes, shout it from the rooftops that everyone should get their annual mammograms. But this month also marks three years since I found that lump after trying to dust a fuzzball off my pajamas. The first photo is me at my first chemotherapy session. Here we are three years later and this month I also had another scare. My MRI showed an enlarged lymph node so the docs ordered an ultrasound. (Last Friday) Right after looking at the ultrasound, they decided to biopsy. I don’t even know how to express what the word biopsy does to my brain. I hear that word and my body thinks Code Red. I immediately get tears in my eyes. Having that done again was like reliving every single struggle over the last three years. Anyhow, this week one of my oncologists called with the results: benign. I literally felt the tension let me out of its grasp, felt the fist tightened around my heart unclench. These tests are hard—but you know what’s even harder? Having something growing in your body wrecking things, and not knowing. I think about how things might have been different if I had not caught that lump early. So go get the mammogram, okay? Do your self-checks. Listen to your body. Regular checks save lives. With the exception of that recent scare, I’m doing much better and I’m so grateful for this life. 💖
