Hello all! How did everyone brave the week? I have been miserable for most of it due to this cold that turned into the flu. I’m getting better, but I’m still not 100%. I’m really hoping it goes away within the next few days as I need to start preparing for National Novel Writing Month, not to mention the release of Black Fox‘s issue #2! I’ll try the “getting my life together thing” again this weekend. But that’s only if I can get rid of this bug.
It’s Friday so it’s time for Friday Fives! The blog Paper Hangover asks:
What are your FIVE favorite childhood books?
1. Miss Nelson is Missing
2. Corduroy
3. Amelia Bedelia– All of Them!
4. Berenstein Bears– All of Them!
5. Where the Wild Things Are
Also, I’m announcing the winners of my Banned Books Giveaway! Yes, it’s time to party! I’ll be contacting you by email soon. I did this the old school way. I selected names out of a hat! And the WINNERS are:
1. Sophia Chang
3. Sarah Allen
Congrats! Have a great weekend everyone!

I like the Corduroy books, though I didn't discover them until I was grown up.

Amelia Bedelia– man, in retrospect, how did she manage to keep that job? If it wasn't for her excellent cooking, she so would have been canned. I LOVED those books. :0)
Janet Johnson says
Congrats to the winners! Where the Wile Things are for sure, plus In the Night Kitchen by Maurice Sendak, too. Happy thoughts. 🙂
Alicia Gregoire says
The only one I never read as a kid (as far as I remember) is Corduroy. The rest I loved.
Colin Smith says
I never read any Amelia Bedelia until we had kids. Great stuff–really funny, even when you can see the misunderstanding coming a mile away.

Fun choices. I remember Amelia Bedelia too. Those were fun books.
Sophia Chang says
Wow thanks!!
I was SO excited to meet the so of the Berenstein Bears creators – I learned to read on those books. I even did a guest post for Baffled Books about them lol.

I never read Miss Nelson is Missing but I loved the other ones too. 🙂
Claudia Del Balso says
My ultimate favorite book was an anthology I had of the Grimm Brothers. It was a collection of all their fairy tales. I also loved Aesop's Fables. Those stories stuck in my head and I still remember them fondly.
Marquita Hockaday says
Amelia Bedelia was awesome 😀

Congrats to the winners.
I loved the Frog and Toad books best, as well as any type of fairy tale.
