Hello all! Who is ready for the weekend? I know I am am! My schedule at the office is a little off due to the Fourth of July Holiday being right in the center of the week. My normal four day weekend has been disrupted. Which means, I’m VERY ready for the weekend.

I don’t always post about the books I read, but whenever I do find a book that I couldn’t put down, it’s only right that I tell the world about it. That is exactly how I felt about Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. My posts on books are not reviews. Rather, I like to talk about what I liked and why I think other people should read the book.

Even though I’ve yet to read Lolita, (need to get on that like, yesterday) Missing Girl reminded me of the YA version of the book. It’s told from different points-of-view and we get to see inside the mind of a man who becomes obsessed with five sisters. I tend to read very dark fiction and this book was exactly that. I find it fascinating when fiction can take us to the point of actually seeing how people who aren’t normal think and act. This topic, along with the shift in character perspective is no easy task to take on, but Mazer does an excellent job of executing both. All I wanted to do was keep turning the pages. When I was finished, I was left staring into space (this is my way of reflecting on a book I thoroughly enjoyed–it sort of leaves me mesmerized).

If you’re looking for a good psychological thriller, pick up Missing Girl. It’s without a doubt one of the best books I’ve read this year. Have a good weekend and Happy Reading!
