   Hello all! How was the weekend? Yet another busy one for me. I had a reunion banquet for my sorority and then a baby shower for one of me best friends. It seems like things such as these wouldn’t take all day, but somehow they always end up doing just that. Between that and all the errands I had no time to write or read. My reading schedule has been almost non-existent lately. Did I plan out a schedule like I said I was going to do? Nope! I am hoping this week isn’t as busy as last week and I’ll have more time to tackle my to-do list. I may also look at all my projects and possibly cut out a few things. And maybe I need to cut TV even more. GASP! I’m telling the world that I am going to submit  one piece of writing this week. I’ll report back next week. I hope you’ll join me and submit something yourself. Take a look at what I found.

The winner will receive a $200 cash award plus 50 copies of the published book. Entry fee is $20 and the contests closes on September 1, 2012.

2. American Short(er) Fiction Prize


American Short Fiction invites you to submit your fiction of 1,000 words or less. First prize in the contest receives $500 and publication; second prize receives $250 and publication. All entries will be considered for publication. Entry fee is $15 and the contest closes on May 1, 2012.

1. The Los Angeles Review


The Los Angeles Review literary journal is looking for three to five book reviewers. These reviewers will primarily be responsible for their new online review section, which includes reviews of self-published books. Some reviews may also be published in the print journal. Fiction, poetry and nonfiction reviewers are all welcome to apply. Online reviews are 200 to 500 words in length. Print reviews are 200 to 300 words.
