Song of the Day: Dream Life by Colbie Caillat

Hello all! Just like that, it’s April. Anyone else feel like this year is zooming by? I’m sure I was saying last month that I couldn’t believe it was March. Now, I can’t believe it’s April. I have so many things I still want to accomplish this year and I feel like time is slipping away. My To-Do lists lately have been a little out of control. I’m remembering how hard it is to balance writing, editing, reading, projects and family/friend time. I love being busy, but I’m feeling the pressure of trying to make all of my goals for the year.
On a brighter note, I’ve done something that I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. I finally bought my domain name for this blog! I did it last night. According to Blogger it could take up to three days for the change to show up. My new web address is www.RacquelHenry.com. I’ve made some very big decisions. I’ll be teaching my own private creative writing class in May (given that I get enough students) and I’ll be doing some freelance manuscript consulting. I wanted to have my website/blog be a little more professional so I got rid of the “blogspot” part of my web address. I’ll be adding pages to my site with the details very soon.
Now that it’s April, it would be a great time to get started on submitting some work to literary magazines and contests. Why not try to submit at least one thing? If you’re pressed for time you don’t need to submit twenty pieces. Start small. Pick a contest or a call for submissions, put it on your calendar and work towards that goal.
Contests:
1. The 2012 Tidal Basin Review’s Editorial Prize
Tidal Basin Review invites prose and poetry submissions for the third annual TBR Editorial Review Prize. One poem and one prose entry (fiction or creative nonfiction) will be chosen for this prize. A prize of $200 will be awarded to the winner in each category. The entry fee is $12 and the contest closes on June 1, 2012.
