Hello all! Hope you had a productive weekend. I just got news that another magazine has accepted one of my short stories for publication. This was another story that had been rejected a few times. Persistence pays off. I don’t have much today as I’ll be apartment hunting. Take a risk with your writing. Submit you work. Press on. And like the picture to the left says, write something.

3. Surreal South `13 Anthology
Surreal South `13 seeks submissions of prose fiction of 1000 to around 7000 words. The theme: A Surreal Lost and Found. For this edition in particular, they’re looking for stories of impossible finds, or of unthinkable losses.
They welcome stories that are horrific, speculative, mysterious, dreamlike, or that draw from any of the various fiction genres, but please note that they aren’t necessarily looking for pieces that are loyal examples of a genre, whether literary, fantasy, crime, horror, or others. What they want is to be disturbed and delighted by good narrative through good prose.
While they’re strict about needing stories that go “beyond the real”—stories that involve the impossible or the supernatural—they’re a little more flexible on the “southern” part of Surreal South. Either the story’s content needs to involve the south, or it can be that the writer is associated with the geographical American south (born, living, spent time in prison or otherwise dallied somewhere south of the Mason-Dixon).
Submission deadline is May 1, 2013 and authors will be notified by July 1, 2013. Publication date (e-book and print) will be October 31, 2013.

Congratulations Racquel on your successful submission. Did you edit it between subs?
Thanks for all the contest/submission links.
Racquel Henry says
Denise, I sometimes edit. If the piece has been rejected a certain amount of times, then I put it away and go back to it to edit.
