Hello all! And Happy New Year! How was your New Years and your holiday? Opportunities are posted every Monday but due to a recent trip, I was unable to post Monday. I am a little late this week, but our regular schedule will resume next week!
I hope that all of my writer followers are ready to start the year off right by submitting work. If you didn’t get around to submitting your work much in 2012, then 2013 is the perfect opportunity to start. Wouldn’t you love to see your byline in a literary magazine? It keeps you constantly practicing the craft of writing and it helps you to perfect it. Here is a fresh batch of opportunities to take advantage of. It’s the first set for the year. Contests:
1. Narrative Magazine
The Winter Contest is now open to fiction and non-fiction writers. Narrative is looking for short shorts, short stories, essays, memoirs, photo essays, graphic stories, all forms of literary non-fiction, and excerpts from longer works of both fiction and nonfiction.
Awards: First Prize is $2,500, Second Prize is $1,000, Third Prize is $500, and ten finalists will receive $100 each. All entries will be considered for publication. There is a $22 fee for each entry. With your entry, you’ll receive three months of complimentary access to Narrative Backstage. The contest deadline is March 31, 2013.

1. Fiction Editor for Sundog
Sundog Lit is now hiring a fiction editor to join their staff. As the magazine grows, they’re looking for someone who will actively keep up on submissions and editing, accepting/declining work, soliciting authors for work, promoting the magazine, and helping to generate content.
This is an unpaid position (as they’re a non-profit and don’t pay themselves).
