Hello all! How do you like the new blog design? I am in love with it! If you ever need any custom blog work done, Zoe is your girl! She blogs over at Chic and Sassy Designs. She’s the best! How was your fourth of July? I got a chance to relax with family and get some work done. I also got a chance to submit work to a couple places and plan out my submissions for July. 1. The Galaxy project by Rosetta Books
Rosetta Books hosts the Galaxy Project for science fiction novellas and novelettes. Here is what the release says:
“The winning writer will be guaranteed e-book publication as part of The Galaxy Project collection, a set of the top novellas that appeared originally in Galaxy, and will also receive a $1,000 advance against royalties of 50% of net receipts to 2,500 copies and 60% of net receipts thereafter for world English digital rights. The contest is open now and the submission deadline is Friday, September 2, 2011.”
Novellas and novelettes should be between 15,000 and 20,000 words.

2. Literal Latte Poetry Awards
Literal Latte Literary Magazine seeks unpublished poems of up to 2,000 words for its annual poetry contest. All styles are welcomed. First place will win $1,000, second wins $300 and third wins $200. The cost is $10 for up to six poems or $15 for a set of 10 poems. Contest ends o July 15, 2011.

3. Writers’ Journal Romance Contest
Writers’ Journal is looking for romance stories of 2,000 words or less for its annual romance contest. First place will win a prize of $250, second place wins $100.00 and third place wins $50.00. Honorable mentions will also be acknowledged. Winning stories and selected honorable mentions will be published in future issues of Writers’ Journal. Entry fee is $7 and the contest closes on July 30, 2011.

4. Glimmer Train Very Short Fiction Award
Glimmer Train hosts this contest twice a year. They are looking for short fiction that does not exceed 3,000 words. First place wins $1,200, publication in Glimmer Train, and twenty copies of the the issue. Second place wins $500 and third place wins $300. Entry fee is $15 and the contest ends on July 31, 2011.
